POLICY and DISCLAIMER:
BE ADVISED: Many files submitted to us will have a hidden problem that may prevent your job from printing as desired.
For this reason, you need to be aware of the possibility that your job may be delayed because of a technical problem.
The concept of a Service Bureau:
As a service bureau, we provide a way for you to print your job without you having to incur the expense of buying your own press and training operators.
You essentially 'borrow' our equipment to print your files.
We are expected to take your files "AS-IS" and print them on our equipment without modification.
For this reason, we can't be held responsible for undesirable results that are not directly caused by a fault of our own.
It is expected that you will prepare your files according to standards defined by the printing industry, and if you do not have the expertise to create these files yourself, it is suggested that you have an experienced designer create them for you.
In the event that we happen to discover a problem with your files within a reasonable time before going to press, we will attempt to notify you of the problem and give you the option of either:
1. running it as-is
2. if possible, having us fix it for you (for a fee)
3. give you the option of re-submitting a fixed file.
All options (except for option #1) may delay the printing of your job.
If a production operator notices something in your job that may produce undesirable results (such as large areas of "1-color" black, as opposed to "rich black", font substitution, etc., and it is too late to have it corrected, it will be pulled off the run until you are contacted. This is why you should provide after-hours contact information.
Optionally, if your job is extremely time sensitive, and you MUST have your job delivered at the expected time, you can submit our "Print Release" form along with your job. This way if there is a questionable issue about your job, the operator will print the job AS-IS in order to make your deadline.
For this reason, you need to decide whether it is more important for you to meet your deadline, or if it is more important for your job to look exactly the way you expect (Ideally, both will happen).
In order for us to provide you with the lowest possible costs, we cannot afford to thoroughly pre-flight every job.
We will, however, give your files a routine check for obvious errors, such as RGB files and resolution.
We will be glad to give your job special attention, with advanced pre-flighting and other pre-press intervention (such as trapping and separation) for additional cost. Please ask your sales person about this when submitting your order.
PROTECT YOURSELF:
Have your files prepared by an experienced designer.
SUPPLY A PRINTOUT! You can usually discover problems with your job before it gets to us by printing your own proof. If we print your job, and a font gets substituted, we will be able to spot it by comparing it to your proof. Your proofs should include B/W separations from a postscript laser or inkjet printer, as well as a composite color proof to show color-breaks and to expose RGB images.
Have us perform advanced preflighting (adds one day to the turnaround time).
